Tignes

About:

One of the largest purpose-built resorts in Europe, Tignes high altitude and excellent snow record make it an ideal location for skiing and boarding fanatics the world over. There are three high-altitude villages in Tignes: Le Lavachet, Le Lac and Val Claret, all linked by free buses 24 hours a day, giving easy access to the skiing, shops and bars.

Skiing And Boarding:

Tignes boasts over 150km of groomed pistes alone, however, when added to the ski area of Val d'Isere this increases to over 300km, The Espace killy. There is plenty of skiing to be had whatever your ability. There 20 green runs to cut your teeth on and then 60 blues to progress on to. This is enough to keep even the busiest of beginners going for well over a week. For the more advanced skier or border there are 35 reds and 16 black runs to prove yourself on before progressing on to the steep mogul fields at Toviere and Solaise. As for all the experts out there the incredible off-piste of Le Tour du Charvet, Le Grand Vallon and the Col du Pers should not be missed.

Apres Ski:

There is something for everybody after the lifts have stopped and the sun is starting on its speedy decent. If it is a quiet vin chaud in front of a roaring log fire then maybe head to the Alpaka lodge in Le Lac. For those that like beer, live music and catching the last the sun has to offer the Loop bar is the place you want to get yourself to. Mountain air is well known for enduing the odd dance move so why not do it with other like minded revellers at the Couloir until the early hours.
